Rose, Cloud, and Pond

Exhibited at Gallery Iang

For a typical person, the casual reaction to rain is to go indoors to wait for the weather to clear up (as an entity to avoid), or perhaps as a visual medium to create a certain atmosphere. Instead, what if rain could form a deeper relationship with architecture? With this premise, I’ve created a set of sculptural pieces inspired by my certain memories of rain: the waves formed by raindrops on a pond, the first ray of sunlight through the clouds, and the leaves that seem to hold the raindrops in their palms as they flutter in the wind. As a secondary experiment, I wanted to see if these sculptural interpretations can form an architectural language by their association. Through this renewed interpretation, the building will form a more direct relationship with the outside conditions as a different experience altogether, perhaps as new beginning of how architecture could relate to nature.
